The new face of electronic recycling

Tomorrow, or is it today? Anyway, on the 23rd of January a new face on the recycling landscape will appear. I’ve been working on this site via IQ Marketing who is partnered with Young America Corporation. I started on this creative over 4 months ago, and the site itself is finally ready for prime-time. If by chance you went to CES this year, you may have noticed their booth as a spec on the map. In any event there’s now a way to recycle those old electronics you have collecting dust in your closets. If it’s semi-recent you’ll be compensated via visa check-card, otherwise if it’s too old you’ll at least be given a free shipping label in favor of doing the right thing by proper disposal of hardware. Typography geek porn

It’s funny. I use multiple skillsets that cover hoards of different geek-ish tendencies. I love typography, I truly do. I was just amazed to find a site dedicated to the news in typography. IPXSync and what could have been…

It had just occurred to me (seconds ago) that I had signed up for something a long while ago and had totally forgotten about it. At the time I had signed up for “IPXSync”… a service that was supposed to “automagically” sync my exchange calendar and e-mail to my iphone. I signed up to be a beta tester via their linkage from the homepage. It was even free! I was and still would be willing to pay for a service that could do this for me so I could ditch my Motorola Q. Nothing against the motorola, it’s just… not an iphone.

Anyway, a part of me is a) sad that this service never actually came to fruition but then 2) left wondering what the hell happened to my e-mail and contact info I so foolishly gave away? Hopefully this was just some sort of iphone service pilot project that was trying to gauge an interest the market and or they realized how difficult their charge was to actually be. Either way I’d be fine with that. The looming fear is that I openly submitted my info in a blind iphone-crazed frenzy. This makes me sad. On the inside.

iphone firmware 1.1.3 releases

So apparently apple’s released the latest firmware update for the iphone. Looking at the list of updates at iphone hacks I think it’s pretty funny that the majority of the new functionality has been around for quite some time via alternate methods available to jailbreaked iphones and 3rd party native iphone apps. Homepage scrolling, GPS via celltower triangulation, sending sms messages to multiple recipients and many more. I guess it’s cool n all that apple’s trying to catch up but i’d be blown away with simply being able to view flash on my iphone, or maybe better yet full support for microsoft exchange with non-imap dependant capability AND synchronization with outlook calendar and the iphones native calendar. I guess we’ll have to see what else is in store in the coming months.

Fall Promotion Boards

Here’s a deck containing sample boards for a series of flash-based banner ads to be run on home-improvement related sites, such as HGTV.com and weather.com to promote Heat & Glo’s fall promotion. Ultimately there were two “looks” that were chosen, but within those looks multiple variations were created and then tested and fine-tuned through-out the promotion. The idea was to continually focus exposure for any ads that outperformed others. Check them out.

Heat & Glo Fall Promotion Teaser [fall 2006]

This was a really short flash teaser that I created as an internal messaging piece announcing the Heat & Glo brand’s upcoming launch of their fall promotion. This piece is actually a transparent flash that sat on top of the Intranet Homepage. It created a great buzz within the company and helped springboard the campaign from within. Give it a whirl.

Winter Financing Promotion [Winter 2006]

In late 2006 Hearth & Home Technologies offered a financing option to their dealers which included a 50% return to the dealer. This “cash back” promotion was offered across all three brands and featured a full POS kit, an online presence and an online opt-in application that allowed dealers to sign up for the promotion via the web.

Here is the Heat & Glo version of the mailer that went out to dealers inviting them to sign up for the promotion. On the reverse was a unique key code that tied to a backend mailing list that was later delivered to our fulfillment house. From there, fulfillment would ship out the POS kits and any other pertinent information.

6000 Product Re-launch [July 2006]

In mid-2006 the Heat & Glo brand of fireplaces under Hearth & Home Technologies re-launched its flagship product line, the 6000 series. There were both print and online materials that went along with this launch.

This was the mini-site that went along with the launch. The site was utilized as an informational piece meant to describe changes from the old versions, as well as any long-running strong-points inherent within the product…
